This policy explains what Afterdark handles, why it is needed, and the choices available to you.
Last updated 23 August 2026Information we handle
We handle account details such as your email address and password hash, conversation messages, character selections, session cookies, message-limit counters, and basic technical logs needed to operate and secure the service.
Guest conversations
You can chat without creating an account. A cookie connects guest conversations to the current browser and supports the daily message limit. If you register in the same guest session, eligible conversations can be attached to the new account.
How information is used
Information is used to deliver replies, restore chat history, authenticate accounts, send verification and password-reset emails, prevent abuse, enforce usage limits, diagnose faults, and improve service reliability.
Service and email providers
Messages and the minimum character context needed for a reply may be processed by service providers. Account emails are delivered through our email provider. These providers process data under their own contractual and security obligations.
Retention and deletion
Registered conversations are retained so you can access them later. Technical logs and guest-session data may be retained for shorter operational and security periods. You can request account or conversation deletion by contacting us.
Your choices
You may use guest mode, decline to register, avoid sharing sensitive information, sign out, clear local cookies, or ask us to provide, correct, or delete personal data where applicable.
